Example of a salary of 50.000 euros

To calculate the income tax for an individual earning €50,000, we would need to apply the relevant tax rate for each income bracket, starting from the lowest bracket up to the highest bracket.

The calculation for the year 2022 would be as follows:

  • Tax on the first €19,500: €0 (0% tax rate)
  • Tax on the next €8,500 (€28,000 – €19,501): €1,700 (20% tax rate)
  • Tax on the next €8,300 (€36,300 – €28,001): €2,075 (25% tax rate)
  • Tax on the remaining €13,200 (€50,000 – €36,300): €3,960 (30% tax rate)

So the total income tax for an individual earning €50,000 would be €7,735 and don’t forget the social insurance contribution which is €2932.5
